Outdoor Adventurers Group
After our Community Meeting on the 29th March 2023, it was proposed that we set up an Outdoor Adventurers Group. Kellie M kindly stepped up to coordinate this effort.
The purpose here is to bring together our members (both 43CHB.org members and our wider Telegram chat members) for outdoor activities, tramping, hiking, walking etc both locally and in other regions (away trips!!). If you're interested in being part of this group, please join the Telegram chat group and be part of the fun. All arranged events will be posted here on the website so the info doesn't get lost...
This is an area where any documents, links or information will be posted for the use of the Group.
From here we can also arrange our Outdoor Adventures!
The area will be accessible to members of the Freedom CHB website (43CHB.org) as well as our wider Telegram group.

EVENTS
‼️First event for the Outdoors Adventurers group‼️
A relatively short walk to begin with, and an opportunity to discuss future events and ideas in the wake of cyclone Gabrielle's destruction of tracks and road access to walks.
Saturday 29th April
Awatere hut, Ruahine Forest Park.
Approx 1 hr walk to the hut, then 20-30 mins walk downstream to see if the old Black Stag biv survived the storm.
Morning tea at Awatere hut, then 1 hr walk back out.
Track time may be longer depending on what damage we come across.
I will bring a first aid kit and PLB, please bring warm clothing, sturdy footwear and food for Morning tea. Hi viz clothing may be a good idea at this time of year too.
Kashmir rd is 4WD access only. I have a 4WD that can transport 7 people, so may need offers of more 4WD's if we have more people than that.
Meet at Waipwa museum carpark at 8am to convoy from there. There may be other meeting points depending on location of participants.
